DAVID JOHN HAYWARD, BSc MSc CBiol MIBiol RFP
Mr Hayward hold the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nottingham (1997) and Master of Science in Forensic Science from King’s College London (1999). The latter degree was received in part for Research and Development work undertaken in the DNA Department of the Forensic Science Agency of Northern Ireland. He is also a Chartered Biologist and a Member of the Institute of Biology. He is a graduate of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Bloodstain Pattern Recognition course held at Carleton University, Ontario, Canada (June 1998). He took part in the STR DNA Workshop at the first International Conference on Forensic Human Identification in the Millennium held by the Forensic Science Service in London (October 1999) which dealt with many aspects of DNA profiling, in particular mixture analysis.
He has experience in a number areas of forensic science including; the examination of items for biological evidence such as blood and seminal staining, the experimental application of DNA profiling techniques, the interpretation of DNA profiling results and calculations in alcohol related matters. He has given expert evidence in trials at both Crown and Magistrates’ Courts.
Miss Lynch holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with Honours from the University of St Andrews and also a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science from the University of Strathclyde. She has attended basic and advanced Blood Stain Pattern Analysis Courses held in the United States of America and is a member of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts. Miss Lynch is a Registered Forensic Practitioner in the speciality of Human Contact Traces (DNA, Body Fluids and Blood Distribution) and Alcohol Technical Defences.
Miss Lynch has experience in a number of areas of forensic science including the interpretation of DNA profiling results, alcohol related matters and the examination of items for the presence of biological evidence such as blood, semen and saliva. Miss Lynch has given expert evidence in both Crown and Magistrates Courts.
Mr Gore holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology and Zoology with Honours from the University of Sheffield and is a Registered Forensic Practitioner. He was employed by the Forensic Science Service between 1969 and 2004.
He has experience in a number of areas of forensic science, including the examination of items for the presence of biological evidence such as blood, semen and saliva, the interpretation of DNA profiling results and the examination of fibres and hairs.
Mr Gore is of proven ability in the Courts at all levels.
GERRY METCALFE, BA BSc CBiol MIBiol RFP
Mr Metcalfe hold the First Class Honours Degrees of Bachelor of Arts (Biology and Chemistry) and Bachelor of Science (Psychology). He is a Chartered Biologist and a Member of the Institute of Biology. He has been admitted to the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners in the fields of handwriting and document examination.
He joined the Home Office Forensic Science Service in 1983. Nearly all of his work since then has been as a questioned documents examiner and he has compared handwriting and signatures on tens of thousands of documents. In addition he has carried out examinations involving ink, papers, modern office technology (printers, photocopiers, typescripts, stamps, etc.) chronological sequencing and indented impressions.
He took early retirement from the Forensic Science Service in 2004 and entered private practice with Hayward Associates as a consultant forensic questioned documents examiner. He has attended Crown and other courts to give evidence in this capacity on hundreds of occasions.
JOHN WALTER HAYWARD, BA CBiol FIBiol FLS
Mr Hayward is a Bachelor of Arts, a Chartered Biologist, a Fellow of the Institute of Biology and a Fellow of the Linnean Society. He has been a forensic scientist for more than forty years, having joined the Home Office Forensic Science Service in 1967. He resigned from the Home Office in order to enter private practice as a consultant and has been a partner in Hayward Associates since 1986. His experience includes the biological aspects of forensic science such as body fluids, hairs, fibres and alcohol related matters.
Mr Hayward is of proven ability in the Courts at all levels.
ROGER CHARLES BLACKMORE, BSc CChem MRSC MFSSoc RFP
Mr Blackmore holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, with Honours, from the University of Nottingham. He is also a Chartered Chemist, Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Member of the Forensic Science Society. He is a Registered Forensic Practitioner in the specialties of particulates (paint and glass), marks (footwear), incident reconstruction (fire investigation) and toxicology (alcohol technical defence).
He is an Authorised Analyst within the provisions of Section 16 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act, 1988.
He has practised forensic science since 1980 and has experience in a number of areas including the examination, testing, analysis and comparison of items recovered during the investigation of crime. This experience includes a number of years spent analysing materials containing illicit drugs and working as an analytical toxicologist.
He has examined scenes of crime when required, and specialises in the investigation of fires.
He has given evidence in a wide range of different types of court cases
